Funcation: Legoland Malaysia Resort

It was an impromptu plan to a staycation at Legoland over the weekend. We had the trip planned and set on Wednesday afternoon. We were lucky that there were still 5 premium rooms available at the time of booking. It was a surprise to learned that LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort has almost full booking rate every day!

There are standard, premium, deluxe/ suite rooms to cater to your family needs. It wasn't an easy decision to made because there are Kingdom, Adventure, and Pirates themed rooms. And when the parents are facing with such a dilemma, the kids would be the rescuer. Remember the trip is made FOR them?! And they can tell you their decision without any hesitant.

Our all-about-bricks experience explains why we are in love with this world-class themed hotel.

1. Top Notch Service

We arrived at the hotel at around 11am. We were greeted by a splashy and showy building, and a gigantic dragon and two odd-sized Lego figurine. As soon as our vehicle is stationary in front of the hotel entrance, two attentive bellhops jumped to attention and came open our car doors. And two hotel doormen pull open the glass door and gaily greeted us a heart-warming "Welcome!". One of the staff then ushers us to the hotel reception for check-in. Although it was a little crowded in the hotel lobby, but there isn't any queue at the hotel reception. The check-in took me merely around 10 minutes. Check-in time is 16:00pm but the hotel receptionist requests for my contact number so that she could give me a ring should our room be ready earlier.

Behind the reception there's a special wall with 12,528 mini figurines. The bicycle will move across the mural and the wheels serve as magnifying glasses to help us to have a better look at the minifigs.

The bell service is worth a mention too giving the bellman are so neighbourly attentive. They get our luggage and bags sorted out rather quickly. They are good with kids too! Despite their busyness, they are not forgetting to give this cutie a high-five and a teaser before they get back to work.

2. The Interior and Ambience

The hotel itself is a playground. The lobby is clean and spacious enough to housed a gigantic Lego space ship and Lego Castle. There are two Lego pits filled with numerous Lego bricks to keep the little hands busy. There are hand sanitizers in the lobby to keep the little hands protected from germs that might be contaminated from the shared toys. The ambience is cheery, imaginative and bright. There are Lego figurines in every colourful corner to greet us all day. It is a picturesque establishment and every corner is worth a shot.

3. Checking-in

We are grateful that the room is ready just in time for us. We headed to the waterpark as soon as we are done with the check-in procedures. We had a real fun-filled and exotic splashy time at the Waterpark. We have to leave the waterpark at around 3pm because of a drenching downpour. We ran our way back to the hotel lobby. We were all soaked and freezing. At this moment if we could have a hot bath in our hotel room would be a boon to us. Thankfully, the receptionist assures us that she will get the room ready in about 10 minutes time. And we got our room key in less than 10 minutes!

4. The Fantasies Elevator

There's another surprise awaiting as we stride our way to the elevator. We are now taking the coolest and funkiest elevator. There are groovy Lego characters await us in the lift and as soon as the doors close, the floor panels and the strobe light hangs on the ceiling light up and the music kicks in!

The lift lobby and the hotel hallway is spacious enough for the kids to frolic around. We have to nab them so that they are not disturbing other hotel guests. Because they couldn't R.E.S.S.I.S.T. 😂

There. You get what I mean....

5. A Delicate Themed Room

The kids went "WOW" as soon as we stepped in our impeccably furnished and tastefully decorated Adventure Themed Room. The boy is so adventure-ready to embark on a journey through Egypt with dessert spiders and scarab beetles. They are delighted to have their own sleeping area with a bunk bed and pull-out bed, as well as their own entertainment unit. No more fighting off TV channel with adults! The sleeping area itself is enough to magnetise the kids. They get a box of Duplo bricks to play with, and a television showing their favourite cartoon shows. Another thing that kept them really busy is the bunk bed as this is their first ever bunk bed experience. They get really excited climbing up and down the bed. When they are tired, they will just laze on the pull out bed and watch the telly.

6. Bathroom and Complimentary Toiletries

The bathroom is so child-friendly with a kid-size basin just nice for their height. We no longer need to carry them to get their hand wash or brush their teeth. The little girl can even check herself on her "personal" mirror each time before we leave the room.

We had tonnes of fun at the waterpark and soaking in the wave pool. But we will have to deal with skin and hair dryness thenceforth and it doesn't feel good at all. What's worse is I have forgotten my body lotion and my very own hair shampoo and conditioner. There isn't Watson nor Guardian to purchase these in LEGOLAND itself. What am I going to do to save me from itchy skin and entangled hair after soaking in chlorine? And there I found my lifesaver in the bathroom. There's a complimentary body lotion! I must give it a mention for this lavender scented body lotion. It is rich in texture and smells really soothing. It heals our dry skin in no minutes! It was such a saviour then.

When it comes to complimentary hair shampoo provided in most of the hotels, it has never been useful for me. So I was always protested to use them and often bring my own toiletries whenever I travel. But this time round because it is a short staycation, I paid the least attention to these. In fact, I only remind myself to don't forget the kid's necessities and forgotten about mine. So I leave with no choice but to use them during our staycation this time. To my surprise, the 2-in-1 hair shampoo provided by LEGOLAND hotel works really well for my hair. It smoothens tresses rather effectively and I have no hard time combing it. It beats coarseness effectively.

7. Snacks Bar

It was a rainy day on the day we visited waterpark and us adults were icy, let alone the kids. So it was a bonus to find Milo in the snacks bar. At least a beverage that the kids recognized and familiar with. It is really warming to serve a cup of hot Milo to the kids after their shower to keep their tummy warm. While we grown-up get to chose coffee/ strawberry tea/ coconut tea/ mango tea and even pineapple tea?! That's 👍! Oh did I mentioned that the chocolate cookies is a divine too?

8. Treasure Hunt

Apart from the cartoon network and Duplo bricks, the treasure hunt is the next good thing in the room. The boy enjoyed it very much and repeated the questionnaires like 5 times, or more? It makes him proud whenever he unlocked the treasure chest. Pre-schooler will needs minimal help. It is fun for all family members to gang up and solve the riddle together.

9. Play Area and Activities

There are Lego bricks and Xbox 360 Kinect at children's play area. We spent the least time here because the Xbox is always occupied. From time to time we get to bump into some gigantic Lego figurines walking around to say Hello to the kids.

Besides this, there are lots of activities from morning till night every day. From colouring, dance performance, minifigure trading and Le Goth in the morning to building activity challenge, movie night etc at night. The kids won't get bored at all!

Before turning in, don't miss the bedtime story session at the hotel lobby.

The dancing session after story telling is way too luring that we must join in!

Check the things to do here or check the activities schedule with the staffs and join as much fun as possible. It will certainly carve an enormous smile on your kid's face. And this is what I ask for a return.

10. After Stay Service

We have the most outrageous act of negligence. Guess what? We actually left out our nappy bag in the hotel lobby when we bid goodbye to the fun land. I only came to realized that the bag is missing after we are home. How bad! We quickly call the hotel reception but the lost & found department has closed for the day. The receptionist was very helpful, though. We told him our situation and he assure us that he will follow up on the case with their lost & found colleague the next morning. The minute after we put down the phone, I received an email from the housekeeping department. And surprisingly they are able to retrieve my full name and the room number that we stayed within such a short time! Systematic or what? And this is so impressing!

With their help, we managed to find back our backpack intactly.

Overall, it was a very good getaway experience. And now the kids are asking why we stay only for a night...? N.O.T enough! We want to go back again!

And yes, we'll definitely be back again!
